Long time No see

Well, on Tuesday my old youth leader, Kakes, came over. It was great! Brooklyn loved him. She wouldn't stop talking. She told him stories and looked at his jewelery from Africa and just wouldn't stop talking about it. So cute! He loved every minute of it, I could tell. He never once discourage her from talking and was always willing to give an answer. He gave Brooklyn and Samantha a coin from the country he was in. He let them choose which ever one they wanted. We sat and talked for a little while and then had supper. After supper, Trevor set him up so he could show us his pictures on our TV. He was very impressed by this. He was also very impressed with our Internet connection. Anyway, so we all sat and watched his pictures and a couple of videos. Very neat. Some were very gross. Especially the pictures of the food. Enough to make me squirm. He had one of a soup and on the spoon was a rooster head. Pretty gross. The other gross ones were of brains and intestines in soup. ECK! Anyway, after that Brooklyn asked him to read a story. He read No Clean Clothes by Robert Munch. Very cute. Then the girls went to bed. Kakes had a friend within walking distance that he wanted to visit so he went to see her for about an hour and then came back and we had cake with him. So, we talked about his love interests and how Trevor and I got together. He told us we had a great story. He also told Trevor that he was solid gold. After that we all went to bed. In the morning, we ate breakfast, talked a little more. He played superheros with Brooklyn and then he had to go. We all hugged him and he left.

Our time together was really short, but worth every minute. I feel so blessed to have spent that time with him. I've always really looked up to Kakes and after seeing him again, it just reminds me why. He really is a great man. He has such a heart for God and you can just see it in him. It's amazing!

That is so great. Sounds like fun. I pray that our kids will have a role model like that to look up to some day.
