Mystery Afghan and other stuff

I've been really bad lately.  Working on too many projects and not getting my pictures taken and posted.  But I am done all the squares.  I have started sewing them together.  I like how the seaming is coming and am looking forward to getting more done.

In other news, we have an allergy free child!!!  Praise the LORD!!!  Rebecca got her tests back and the were all negative!  At this point, the allergist said it is very unlikely that she is allergic to nuts.  Meaning, he believes the tests are negative!  So, he said we could do a challenge, depending on our comfort level.  We have a year to decide.  He doesn't think it's necessary, but medically it would be the next step.  So, we will wait and see where the Lord leads us.

Mystery Afghan #5

This square was a completely new concept to me.  It was worked along both natural edges to the blue corner.  These blocks will have to be blocked for sure!  We had to do 16 of them.  They were the most of any that we will have to do.  I really can't wait to see what it's going to look like all put together.  Also, go back and check out my square #3 because I did it in the wrong color originally and had to redo them.

Becca's Daily Prayer

Thank you, God, for my gorgeous day.  And I love my Mommy and my Daddy and my sisters, and my Mommy.  And I love my (enter toy name here) and I love Annie and my Mommy, and all the toys.  The end.  Da da  (Which is some sort of ending musical noise.  Something that Samantha started.)

Mystery Afghan #4

I enjoyed this weeks a little more.  It was nice working with the different colors.  There's still one color that I haven't used yet, and it's one of the main colors, so I'm looking forward to seeing what they're going to do with it.
Again, there was nothing new for me to learn this week.  Which is fine, but I hope that in the later weeks I will learn something new!

Mystery Afghan #3

Here's square number 3!  I was finished on Thursday, but I was just so busy I didn't have time to take a picture and post it until tonight.  And the next one will be posted on the site in 2 more hours, so hopefully I'll have time to get this posted a little earlier.  Again, no problems with this square.  I had to make 8 of there, where the others were just 2.  So I'm interested to see how many this weeks will be.

Edit: I found out last week that I did this in the wrong color.  So here's the right color

Sorry its sidewise, but I turned it in iphoto and it just didn't want to stay turned when I downloaded it.

Mystery Afghan #2

I don't have too much to say about this square.  It was worked in the round.  I've just recently crocheted an afghan in the round so it was no problem for me.  I'm looking forward to getting to the harder, more challenging squares.

Mystery Afghan

I'm doing the Bernat Mystery Afghan Crochet Along!  You can find it here, on the Bernat website.  It just started yesterday.  You can read on their site how it works.. but I'm going to try and be faithful about posting my square each week when I'm done.  So here's week one.

Catching Up

I know I haven't been blogging much, and I'm not sure if I'm going to try more, or not, but I have a few things I feel like saying. Just for the record.

Trevor just got back yesterday from his third trip to India this year. He's been gone for almost 2 full months. It's been hard, but super nice because my parents have been able to come each time to help me. There may be more travel in the near future, but we're just praying for God's will.

It's so nice to have him home. I love this time when he's just gotten home and is so happy to be here. His job is so stressful that this time doesn't seem to last too long until he's back in the thick of it and trying not to bring his work "home". Which is really hard for him, because he works from home.

Brooklyn has started Grade 2 and Samantha has started K. They're both doing really well, though I'm having a hard time doing school every day when we've had so many distractions. At the least, we've been trying to do math and reading every day.

We also started AWANA and Transform last week. The girls really love AWANA and this is Becca's first year. She was a little nervous to go in, but did really well! I'm doing a study on Romans, and I think Trevor will be joining me. I think it's going to be really good! I really enjoyed the first week. There is someone in our group that is on my worship team and I'm looking forward to getting to know her better. Last week I was stressed and so tired because I was trying to get my room painted and organized before Trevor came home and this lady, Heather, sent me a message and told me to call her the next day so she could come help me organize my bedroom! I just couldn't believe that someone would be so thoughtful. I was so touched. I declined because I did get most of it done, and my parents did some work in there while I was relaxing at Transform. But all the things my parents did to help me is another post...

I think God had me in his thoughts as he inspired Max Lucado to write this paragraph in Fearless...

"Seek first the kingdom of wealth, and you'll worry over every dollar. Seek first the kingdom of health, and you'll sweat every blemish and bump. Seek first the kingdom of popularity, and you'll relive every conflict. Seek first the kingdom of safety, and you'll jump at every crack of the twig. But seek first his kingdom, and you will find it. On that, we can depend and never worry."

He also had the words to this hymn.

"Not so in haste, my heart!
Have faith in God, and wait;
Although He linger long,
He never comes too late.

He never comes too late;
He knoweth what is best;
Vex not thyself in vain;
Until He cometh, rest.

Until He cometh, rest.
Nor grudge the hours that roll;
The feet that wait for God
Are soonest at the goal.

Are soonest at the goal
That is not gained with speed;
Then hold thee still, my heart,
For I shall wait His lead."

Learning to trust

I know that I don't have to worry about tomorrow, but this was a good reminder today.

Matthew 6:25-34

Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?
And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? So do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' For the pagans run after all these things, and our heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

Possibly some big changes coming that may really affect the near future and I'm having a hard time not thinking about it and wondering what's going to happen. All I can see is what I think would be the better option, and I know God's got a bird's eye view on the subject and knows much better than I what will be best. I keep praying for his will in the matter and now I'm just waiting to see what that is. If anything changes, I'll keep you posted.

How He Loves by David Crowder

He is jealous for me,
Loves like a hurricane, I am a tree,
Bending beneath the weight of his wind and mercy.
When all of a sudden,
I am unaware of these afflictions eclipsed by glory,
And I realize just how beautiful You are,
And how great Your affections are for me.

And oh, how He loves us so,
Oh how He loves us,
How He loves us all

Yeah, He loves us
Oh! how He loves us,
Oh! how He loves us,
Oh! how He loves.

We are His portion and He is our prize,
Drawn to redemption by the grace in His eyes,
If grace is an ocean, we're all sinking.
And Heaven meets earth like an unforseen kiss,
And my heart turns violently inside my chest,
I don't have time to maintain these regrets,
When I think about, the way...

He loves us,
Oh how He loves us,
Oh how He loves us,
Oh how He loves.

Father's Day

Just taking time today to be thankful for the Dad's in my life!

My Dad is the best! I love him so much and have a great relationship with him. He gives so much and asks for nothing in return. Plus, he's an awesome Grandpa to my girls!

My FIL is awesome, too! I couldn't have asked for a better one. He's sweet to me and welcomed me into the family right from the start. He's also a great Papa to our girls :)

And my hubby! I love him so much and am so thankful for him. He's an amazing father to our girls and such a wonderful hubby too! LOVE HIM! :)

Philippians 1:6

I feel like my life was just flipped upside down. In a good way. A couple days ago, I watched the video below... Now I'm reading this.

I can't believe how wrong I've had it. After being a "Christian" for nearly my whole life!

I guess it started a couple weeks ago in church, our pastor preached on Christian Atheism. How people believe there is a God, but live like he isn't there. How what is really missing in most people's lives is a fear of God. I started to wonder if I had that fear. I have a lot of other fears, but do I really fear God? I'd have to honestly say, probably not. I know I've had some changes in my life and I believe that God has worked in me, but I don't think I was really fearful of Him.

Since then, I've been asking God to touch my life so that I will be forever "ruined" (Isaiah 6:5) and will never be the same. My sister-in-law started this group with her friends on FB where we girls can share what we've been learning in our quiet times, and just be accountable to each other. One of her friends, whom I would have never met otherwise, posted this video, the one below, and it really shook me. I really haven't know what has been going on in my spirit since I watched it. I knew it was something big. I just couldn't verbalize it. And I'm still having problems, so I apologize if this jumps all over the place.

Yesterday I started reading the downloadable book that I linked earlier and my spirit and heart and head were doing flip flops. I was struggling within myself to understand where God was taking me with this and was I ever really going to get it? And then, about an hour ago... God touched me. I have struggled with feelings of "I've never done anything really bad, and I'm decent to look at, so there must be some good in me". But the Bible tells us that apart from God, we can do no good. (Romans 3:12) At the end of Chapter 9 it asks us
"What areas in your life do you still feel have worth? Embrace the cross and allow Christ

to crucify thesWhat areas in your life do you still feel have worth? Embrace the cross and allow Christ

to crucify these things. "

I spoke to God about what was in my heart and still didn't really feel any change. But as I continued to read, God showed me the truth. He showed me the truth about being baptized. I was told, a couple years ago, that we need to be baptized in the spirit, and this is a different baptism than that of water, and that you will know you received the Holy Spirit because you will speak in tongues, immediately. This didn't sit right with my spirit and I have struggled with this line of thought since then. But NOW I KNOW!!! THANK YOU JESUS! God gave me understanding and I am so thankful! God showed me that I am nothing without him, and he gave me an awe of him that I don't remember having before.

I haven't finished reading this book yet, so hopefully I'll have more to say when I'm done!

Hebrews 12:1-3

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinful men, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.

Day Nine!

We started out this morning by sleeping in. We didn't mean to. We were expecting the girls to wake up just after 7 like they had been, we'd get up and get ready. But no. I woke up at 7:45 and the girls were still sleeping. So, just got up and started getting ready, then the girls slowly woke up.

After a drive through the mountains we went shopping in Banff. It was so nice to walk down the strip and enjoy ourselves! We had lunch at BP's and then headed off. I just remembered... we had meant to go to the Cave and Basin... oops... next time.

Then we headed home! It's so nice to be home! I'm off to enjoy a nice bath and continue the adventure of The Hobbit!

Day Eight/Happy Mother's Day

Today started with... ME SLEEPING IN!!!! Again!!! :) I have a wonderful husband :) Then after I got up and had breakfast (he tried to give me breakfast in bed, but I can't because of not being able to eat right after I take my morning pill) we went to the hot springs again. It was so nice again. Relaxing and fun. We didn't stay as long because the wind was picking up and it looked like a storm was coming. After we left, the storm turned south... so we would have been ok, but it was time to go, anyway.

We had lunch, I talked to my Mommy and Trevor talked to his Mommy. Then it was nap time. FOR ME!!! :D I laid down with Becca and we were both asleep in no time. But, we didn't sleep as long as the other day. Which is ok. Then we got up and all went to the park. We thought we'd try a different one from the other day, but when we got there, there was only a slide. So the girls went down it a few times, and we walked to the other park.

After a while we came back and made supper. Trevor BBQ'd steaks, and I tried to serve up the rest of the food in the fridge.

The girls and I hopped in the jacuzzi tub again and had some fun with bubbles. Now the girls are running around and getting some energy out before bed.

Yesterday at the pool Samantha and Brooklyn were getting dressed after we were finished and there were a couple little girls getting ready too. One said to Samantha, "Where's your Mommy". I was right there helping Samantha, so she said, "My Mommy's right here! We love our Mommy!" Samantha was quite defensive about it. I thought it was so sweet! Totally unprompted love from my child :)

_______________________________________

I love you, Mommy! I wouldn't be who I am today without you! I couldn't have picked a better Mommy myself! I am so thankful that God gave me you, or gave you me :), and I always thank God for you! I'm also very thankful for the close relationship we share!!! I LOVE YOU!!!

Day Seven

Wow! Today was an awesome day! It all started out with me sleeping in... again...(I have a great husband). Then we all got ready and headed out to some Hot Springs that are about 40km away. We got there an hour before it opened... oops. But we checked it out and decided to drive back to the ones that are across the highway from us. It was a nice drive. And it was good that we came back because I'm pretty sure we would have been rained out of the other one. Once we got there the girls had a snack in the car because it was almost lunch time and then we headed into the pools. It was so nice! The hot pool had a nice shallow area where we could sit with the girls and the cool pool had a shallow area and deep end. Plus they had life jackets so we could handle all three girls.

We haven't done the swimming thing very much with our girls, and I think it's because we grew our family so fast, but they are getting way better than they were. They were never scared of the water, but never knew to close their mouths when they hit the water. So their mouth would go in the water and they would breath in. Scary for Mommy! But that hardly happened at all today and they're getting so comfortable!

Anyway, we stayed there for 1 1/2 - 2 hours and then came back and had lunch. We were all pretty tired, but since it was getting late we weren't sure if we should put Becca down for a nap. We just turned the tv on and told them to relax. Becca fell asleep almost right away. I was just sitting in the chair wanting to sleep and Trevor told me to go lay down (did I mention I have a great husband?).

After that, and a short talk to Grandma on Skype, we decided to drive into town because I didn't have any groceries for supper. We got some groceries but decided to save them for tomorrow and we got DQ to bring back. Then we played some games with the girls and some games by ourselves and it was time for the girls to get ready for bed. I read them Psalm 139... quickly becoming one of my favorite Psalms... and tried to explain it to the girls. Brooklyn understood the most. Samantha seemed too tired to focus. And Becca kept saying, "God made the mountains. He's huge!" :) (which was off topic, but one we talked about anyway)

Day Six

Today was another lazy day. We played games, had a nap, watched some movies. The girls and I got in the jacuzzi tub again! So much fun! We had a short movie night! We had popcorn and started watching Condorman, but it was on my computer and it wasn't very loud so we ended up shutting if off because we couldn't hear it over the girls :) The girls watched The Arisocats instead.

Day Five

Today was a better day! It started off by me sleeping in! (Trevor and I have been taking turns getting the girls up) Then we all got ready and headed into town. We had some lunch at A&W, then we took our picture by the Kicking Horse factory. We were hoping they would have cheap coffee, but they didn't. :( Then we got some groceries for supper. After that we came back and had nap time. Becca slept and I went in the laid down with her. Trevor played a game on his computer and Brooklyn and Samantha relaxed while watching some tv.

After nap time we went out for a walk. There's a park near by and the girls had a lot of fun there. Then we went for a walk and checked out some of the houses. The girls had a ball and it was pretty nice out.

By the time we got back it was almost supper time so I started supper while the girls played. After supper we played games and got to hear Grandma's "silly" voice on Skype :) Now it's nearly bed time and the girls are all relaxing. I'm going to go relax in the huge tub and perhaps continue to read "The Hobbit". I've never read it before and I'm enjoying it so far! See you all tomorrow!

Day Four

Was today really day four? It seems so weird...

Anyway...

I have to get this done quick because I realized that the internet connection is better at the table than it is in bed and a couple of the girls are still awake, so I don't want to bother them.

There's not much to say about today. The girls and I didn't leave the condo all day. Trevor ran out in the evening to grab a few snacks. We read, played games, had naps, and just hung out. The highlight of our day was the jacuzzi tub. I put my bathing suit on and jumped in the tub with the girls. It was just easier, it's so deep, I would have killed my back trying to wash them. And we turned the jacuzzi on. Samantha and Rebecca freaked out when it first came on, it is pretty loud. But they got used to it and were really cute. We all played Sorry after that. Samantha and Rebecca didn't last too long with that, but we still had fun.

Alright, gotta go so the girls can sleep!

Tuesday, May 4, 2010

Day Three

I'm proud to report that I do not have to blog about last night! It went great! Trevor and I were exhausted, as were the girls, and Becca only have one coughing fit before Trevor and I fell asleep. The rest of the night she was fine! Praise the Lord!

So... on to today! We woke up and relaxed for a while. Had breakfast... just sat around. Then we got dressed and went into town to get a few more groceries. Got what we needed and drove around for a little while. There are lots of deer around here. Really have to watch the roads. The hot springs is closed for a few more days for maintenance, so we're going to just check it out and see if we want to go to that one, or check out the one that is a bit of a drive.

Anyway, we came back and had lunch. We played a few games and read some books. Then we laid Becca down for a nap in our bed. She fell asleep in no time so I snuck in and had a nap with her. The other girls just rested while watching tv.. and Daddy napped on the couch.

After that, and a snack, we headed to the pool. Tons of work for this Mama! The pool was quite cold, so I would sit in the hot tub with two girls while Trevor played with one in the pool. Our girls aren't the best swimmers, yet, but with a little work, I think they'll be great. Samantha has absolutely no fear! She was doing the "water hula" in the hot tub... so cute!

Anyway, while at the pool there was this little boy, Aiden. He was such a sweetheart and just kept talking to us. He was four, and a great swimmer. He had a life jacket on and was just going everywhere. I was able to talk to his Mom in the change rooms afterwards. I was wearing a Rider shirt and so she asked if I was from Sask. She said her husband opened up a pool hall in Regina and I told her I used to go there all the time! What a small world! They now live in Calgary! So crazy! They were super nice and Aiden wanted to come with us... I think he was having fun with the girls. Brooklyn tried to exchange phone numbers with him!

After the pool we came back and had supper. We BBQ'd hot dogs. Then we just relaxed and played some games. Brooklyn and I played War. The girls watched some more tv and Trevor and I played some card games. Then it was bed time for the girls. They're just about asleep.

We have some new neighbors above us that are stomping around and driving Trevor and I crazy! Hopefully they won't stay too long!

Monday, May 3, 2010

Night One/Day Two

On night one, the girls went to sleep so well! No crying or any fussing. Becca was coughing a lot, though so we moved her to the hide-a-bed so that she wouldn't disturb the other girls, and I slept with her. It was not a great night. Then Trevor's phone alarm kept going off. You know how when you hear something in your sleep, but it's not really disturbing you, so you ignore it? Well, that's what I did, until 6:30. So I heard it at least 4 times... then I turned it off, but woke Becca up in the process. She never did go back to sleep, but I got a few minutes more after I turned TreeHouse on for her. Then, unfortunately, she told me she pooped, so I told her to go find Daddy, but instead, she tried to go potty, so I had a mess to clean up. I didn't sleep any more after that.

_______________________________________

So, we got up and had breakfast in the hotel. Then we went to the zoo. There were chances of Thundershowers in the afternoon and we wanted to make sure we were outta there before that. We spent just under 4 hours there. So cool! Way nicer than our zoo. My favorite animal was the hippos, Daddy's was the giraffes, Brooklyn was elephants and hippos, Samantha's was the birdies, and Becca's was the lions.

I nearly forgot to add this part! There's a exhibit called, Dinosaurs Alive! It was really neat. But poor Samantha! She was scared.. not crying, but enough to cover her ears the whole time! It took us probably 10-15 minutes to walk through all the dinosaurs and over 1/2 of them growled or something, so Samantha had her hands over her ears... the WHOLE time!

After the zoo we had lunch at Mckee D's and then headed out of town. We stopped for gas once, but that was it. The girls all did so awesome with the traveling! I'm so please. Brooklyn said it was boring... but that's ok.

When we finally arrived at our resort, after getting some groceries, I made up some supper (thanks for the buns, Mom!) and then we just sat and relaxed. I had a bath in the jinormous tub! It was so warm and nice, I just wanted to sleep! And that's all I want to do now! I'm so tired it's not even funny!

The girls are all laying quietly on their beds while watching a little TreeHouse before bed. And I think I'm going to head to bed! Nite All!

Sunday, May 2, 2010

Day One

This is day one of our family vacation! It's going great so far. We're in Cowtown over night, and then we're heading to the zoo tomorrow. The girls did well in the car. Becca had a little harder of a time. She's got such a bad cough and it seemed like she coughed the whole way here. And then before the 1/2 way mark she was crying because she had to go potty. I was very proud of her because she didn't just go in her pull up. She waited until we got to the restaurant. Brooklyn and Samantha did great. They were all so excited to get to the hotel. They want to to live here! So cute!

We got here just before 8. The girls all laid down in bed and watched some TreeHouse. Then after a while we turned it off and they only talked for a little while. Trevor and I are going to try and sleep while they do, but it won't be easy.

YAY for free internet!

This is me... trying not to rant and rave...

Monday, April 5, 2010

Oh gently lay your head
Upon My chest
And I will comfort you like a Mother while you rest.
The tide can change so fast
But I will stay
The same through Past, the same in Future,
Same Today.

Oh weary, tired and worn
Let out your sighs
And drop that heavy load you hold
Cuz Mine is light.
I know you through and through
There's no need to hide.
I want to show you love that is deep and high and wide.

For I am constant.
I am near.
I am peace that shatters all your secret fears.
I am holy.
I am wise.
I'm the only One, who knows your heart's desires.

Oh gently lay your head upon My chest
And I will comfort you like a Mother
While you rest.

Psalm 55:1-8, 23b

Listen to my prayer, O God,
do not ignore my plea;
hear me and anser me.
My thoughts trouble me and I am distraught
at the voice of the enemy,
at the stares of the wicked;
for they bring down suffering upon me
and revile me in their anger.

My heart is in anguish within me;
the terrors of death assail me.
Fear and trembling have beset me;
horror has overwhelmed me.
I said, "Oh, that I had the wings of a dove!
I would fly away and be at rest-
I would flee far away
and stay in the desert;
I would hurry to my place of shelter,
far from the tempest and storm.

...But as for me, I trust in you.

Don't be alarmed by this post. I feel a war going on in my heart and mind and I have just a taste of what David was feeling here. There are a few things in my life right now that the enemy is trying to tear me down with and steal my joy, but I will not let him. I will fear no evil because God is with me!

Spring Cleaning

It doesn't feel like spring today. We got a bunch of snow last night, and it's not above zero, but I still have a spring cleaning fever.

So far I've cleaned the back entryway, cleaned the bottom of the bookcase, done a ton of laundry, cleaned the upstairs bathroom, cleaned out one toy box and vacuumed the bottom, then cleaned out the other toy box and vacuumed it out. I think I have all the toys down to one toy box. I just have to weed a few more out, and then we'll be good. The girls helped me move a BUNCH more toys up the their rooms and they were very happy about it. I started cleaning out the front entryway, and have also started cleaning the master bedroom.

I didn't do all of this today, but this is what my spring cleaning has produced so far. I've very proud of what I've been able to do so far, and I can't wait to do more. The one job I'm dreading more than others is cleaning out the fridge. It's very sticky in there and I hate that job! Oh well, I gotta do what I gotta do!

God is in Control!

Edit: Samantha got sick yesterday. Throwing up every time she tried to eat something. So we ended up having to cancel lunch. Trevor and I also have colds of some sort. Not fun... but I have been able to get a lot done on this easy Sunday.

We have been invited to someone's house for lunch on Sunday. This hasn't happened in a while. I'm excited! But also hesitant... I am concerned. My girls have allergies, and going to someone's house for lunch is stepping WAY out of my comfort zone.

I did inform the lady that the girls have allergies, and she was super good about it. But I have a hard time trusting other people with the safety of my children. I will be there... so it's not like I won't have control over what's going into their mouths. It's still just a big fear area for me. Brooklyn puffed up like a balloon when she was only little and I never want to experience that again.

Back to trusting... it's not really the people I have to trust at all, is it? God is in control. GOD is in control! Not even me! I can watch everything that goes into their mouths and still, GOD is in control! Even if they do have a reaction, God is still in control! And He works for the good of those who love Him and have been called according to HIS purposes.

I believe that God wants us to bring our fears to Him, and so, for the next few days I will be covering this Sunday in prayer. That God will be in control, that I will be able to give my fear to Him, that the girls will not have reactions, but that ultimately, GOD's will will be done!

Brooklyn

My Darling Brooklyn,
It amazes me how fast you are growing up. I can't believe that just over six years ago, you became my baby. There are so many things I want to say, but I have a hard time putting them into words.
You are so kind. You jump at the chance to make someone happy if they're upset.
You're always willing to help. Whether it be in helping your sisters, or cousins, get their jackets done up, or helping me set the table. You can't wait to help me cook.
You love your family so much. Tonight you asked Daddy how we got married. When Daddy got to the part about kissing you actually said, "Ewww". I couldn't believe it. I know you don't like kissing, but I didn't think you would say that about Mommy and Daddy kissing :)
I am so proud of you, sweetheart! You are doing awesome in your school work and I couldn't ask for a better, more tenderhearted little/big girl.

"Cleaning and scrubbing can wait till tomorrow
For babies grow up, we've learned to our sorrow
So quiet down cobwebs, Dust go to sleep
I'm rocking my baby, and babies don't keep."

I kept thinking that a big change was coming... like Trevor's job, or a new house or something big like that. But I realize now, that the big change that I was yearning for was not external. It was internal. I feel God changing me. I know it's not going to be all at once... but in the past few weeks I have felt a big change. He's changing my heart.

I felt content for a couple weeks (which is huge for me). Now my heart is yearning for another change, but I don't want to express it just yet, if ever. I don't know if it's from God, or just part of my flesh. I'm praying about it, and trying not to dwell on it, but to dwell on thoughts that are true and pure.

Also, I've got lots of knitting projects going on right now... I'm just finishing up another pair of mitts. I'm making a scarf with a new kind of knitting for me. And I'm going to make a baby something-or-other ;) not for me, in case you're wondering :) lol THAT would be a miracle!

Luke 6:45

The good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and the evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart.
For out of the overflow of his heart his mouth speaks.

Busy, busy, busy

I've been wanting to slow down here for a while now and it doesn't seem like that's going to happen any time soon. I said last week, we'll slow down next week and not book as many things. That didn't happen. I said the same this week, doesn't look like that is happening, either. But that's ok. I'm not feeling too overwhelmed. The things we are doing are good. At least then we're not sitting around watching tv or anything wasteful. We're building relationships, learning how to have a better relationship with Jesus, and taking care of our bodies. And we usually have time, after our activities, in the evening to sit and slow down. I've been taking this time to read my Bible. And I've very pleased to say that it's been happening more often and I'm enjoying it. I'm tired of being a lukewarm Christian, and I will no longer be one! I will jealously guard my relationship with Jesus Christ. I will no longer setting for a "normal" life. I want the "abundant life" that Jesus promises us.

I keep thinking this to myself... my life is like a piece of fabric and I want the Holy Spirit weaved into every part of me so that you cannot tell us apart. And so that we cannot be taken apart.

Our Provider

I have been thinking all day about whether or not to write this post... but how can I not boast, and make a record, of how great my God is?

For a while now, we have known that Trevor's job could be done at anytime. The contract he was working for is coming to a close in August and we felt that probably he would be done then, if not sooner. We have been praying for a job opportunity to open up somewhere. He has been applying everywhere he has found including within IBM.

Well today, shortly after Trevor's manager told him his job would be finished in Februray, God opened a door. Trevor's manager called him and told him there is an opening for the same job on another contract, and that Trevor will be moved to that position near the end of the month.

I am astounded at how God has worked this out for us. I know that God loves us and he's our provider, but it's still just head knowledge. I also feel so unworthy of His provision. I feel so small and insignificant. How can the Almighty God care so much about us?

All I know is that He does! He cares for me and loves me in a way I cannot even imagine!
And Praise the Lord that He does!

Home, Home on the Range

Well, we arrived home safely on Saturday. The house was a mess when we got home because we left in such a hurry. The Christmas tree was still up and there were toys EVERYWHERE!!! We're starting to get the house under control. Trevor cleaned Sunday afternoon while I had a nap. And Brooklyn and I postponed school another day so that we could take down the Christmas decorations. I did print off an earthquake booklet for her to colour and to learn about them. So we'll probably do some of that tomorrow. We also started her chores list and she was really excited about that because she got to put a star on right away for helping me with the decorations.

I'm really looking forward to getting this house under control. I have let it rule me too long and I will put up with it NO longer! I have also decided to stop watching certain TV shows because I know they do effect me a bad way, even if I can't see it right away. So, some I know I'll miss, but others, I don't even care. I really want to spend more time reading my Bible and getting this house organized.

I have also been having some more personal medical problems and will be seeing my doctor on Friday to discuss going on "The Pill". I don't want to, but I don't see much of a choice at this point.

We only have one night left free on the calender this week and I'm not sure how I feel about it. It's nice to get back and see everyone, but getting right back into the swing of things is a bit overwhelming. We'll see how it goes, and hopefully we can tame down next week. But, I am hoping to start going to aqua-size regularly (at least once a week) so that's going to be something to fill up an evening, but I can do it any night of the week. And it is a drop in class, so I don't have to sign up or anything. So... Erin... if you ever want to go with me, I'd love it if you'd come! :) And anyone else who wants to join me can come too... but most of you don't live close enough to come with. :)

Broken Heart

My heart is breaking for the people of Haiti. I don't know anyone there. But the reports are not good and they are tearing at my heart.

Father God,
Please be with the people of Haiti,
I pray lives will be saved,
I pray people will be comforted,
I pray doctors will be able to help the hurt,
I pray aid will be sent and will get to those who need it,
I pray that above all Your glory will be seen to all who are hurt
Amen.

Newfie Mits #1

Here's my first pair of Newfie mits! I LOVE knitting them! They are so much fun to knit, and I think they'll be warm too. I have 2 more sets planned. I'd love to be able to sell them someday, but don't know if I'll get that far.
