For My Mommy

My Mom has been there for me through everything. She drove me to every piano lesson, every voice lesson, and was there for every concert, school play, and was always ready to go for coffee afterwards. God gave us a relationship that can never be broken. Stronger than most Mother-Daughter relationships. And since I became a mother, it only got stronger. Probably because my understanding of how she felt really came about. Through the years we've shared a love of old movies, coffee, shopping, going for coffee, and drinking coffee. She knew the way to get me to open up was to get a cup of coffee in me. A lot has changed over the years, and we may be far apart, but I still feel that connection. I miss not being able to go out with her, or have her come over and help me with my quilt. But we're always able to talk on the phone, and that's better than nothing. I cherish every moment we have together and always wish it would last longer. God gave me a loving, caring, nurturing mother and in the process, taught me how to be a mother. Happy Birthday Mom! I hope you have a great day and I can't wait until September.

The post with no name

Well, lots is going on around here. Trevor and I finished leveling the lawn and seeded it. I'm so glad we got that started. I want to have a beautiful lawn by Sept. I'm not sure if it will be, but at least it has a chance.

I've been making a quilt for Samantha but I sort of stalled since we've been working outside. When I have a chance to, all I want to do is sit on the couch with my hunny, Trevor. And I've sort of been putting of starting Brooklyn schooling until I was finished the quilt, but today durning the first part of nap time we started some reading. We read the Bible passage, and from 3 different books. It was really nice. We just sat at the table and ate together while I read and then tried to get her to talk about it a little. When we are done eating we're going to try and learn a Bible verse. It's on a CD called Sing the Word. They try to make it easier by putting them to music. I'll let you know how it goes.

Our weekend

On Saturday we finally got enough gumption to have some top soil delivered. We got 4 1/2 yards. My MIL took all three girls for the first time so that I could actually work outside too. It was wonderful! I am still sore, but it feels good. We got most of the front yard leveled out. It was really unlevel. Now it's starting to look better. I can't wait to get the sidewalk blocks down and seed.

Yesterday Trevor went to his cousin's church because his cousin was preaching. The girls and I decided not to go since it's a small church and I would have had to stay in the nursery the whole time anyway. In the afternoon we went swimming with my brother and SIL. It was great! We haven't taken the girls to a big pool for a long time and they loved it. The girls don't know how to keep their mouths closed when they hit the water so it's a stressful and possibly worrisome time for me. I was able, though God's help, to over come my fear during out time there and was able to enjoy myself. Now, I don't mean I've totally over come it, just for that time. Because I know next time I'll be scared again. But, I'll take the little victory I had yesterday. The girls had an amazing time. Samantha had a perm-a-grin the whole time.

That was our weekend. I was exhausted every night. So for this week, we have to finish leveling the top soil, get some sand, or rock and lay the sidewalk, and seed the lawn. Boy I wish my Dad was still here. Trevor was wondering why Dad wasn't here on Saturday when we got the dirt. And then last night he said to me, "Tell you're parents to move here". We were watching the football game and it would have been nice if Dad could have watched with us. Brooklyn keeps asking when Grandma and Grandpa are coming. I think she's looking forward to it. But not as much as I am.

To the Zoo

We had a great time at the zoo today! Brooklyn got so excited when we told her we were going! The weather was perfect! We went in the morning so it wasn't too hot. And it's a week day so it wasn't overly busy. Samantha enjoyed saying hi to each and every animal. They didn't get overly excited at any animal in particular, but enjoy the whole morning. The girls all crashed when we got home. They all had a good afternoon nap. Here the girls are at the petting zoo. There weren't too many animals out for it yet. It had only been open for 15 minutes. And they only petted the sheep. The goats were on the other side and had poop in front of them. I said, "Don't step in the poop" Then Brooklyn was too worried to go close.
These are the Red Panda's the zoo got a few years ago. Last time we were there we didn't get to see them so Trevor and I were really excited that they were out.
This is the girls looking at the zebra...you can see it in the background.
There's Becca. Just so you know she was with us too. She didn't really care about the animals, but enjoyed the morning outside.
This was the coolest part. The tiger kept walking by the window and checking everyone out. I've never seen him so social. The girls really liked it. It was pretty neat to see him so close up.

For My Dad

I have been so blessed though my whole life. I have been blessed with a father who has all the traits a good father should have. He has more patience than anyone I've met. He's handy and always willing to lend a hand. He's shared with me his love for baseball, and most recently, football. I remember playing catch countless times in the park. He taught me how to ride a bike, and drive a car. He took care of my wound when the Principle drove me home after I had fallen. He took me to the dentist and stayed in the room with me when I was scared. He was always willing to give a hug when I, as a shy little girl, needed one. He gave me away on my wedding day, but I'll always be his little girl. And most of all, he showed me love. And through that love I have a glimpse of the love my heavenly Father has for me. That is the greatest gift any father can give their daughter. I love you, Dad! Happy Birthday!

Ode to the Birthday girl

Today is Rebecca's 1st birthday! I can't believe it's already here. So much has happened this year, but it's gone so fast. So, I just wanted to write down a few things that Rebecca is doing right now.
  • Crawling all over the place
  • pulling herself up everywhere
  • says all done, mama, up
  • puts her hands in the air if you say Touchdown!
  • does the actions for patty cake
  • eats finger foods
  • kicks her legs in the water
  • likes watching Veggie tales
  • climbs up the stairs if we follow her
  • covers her eyes if you say "where's Becca?"
  • waves hello and bye bye
  • cluckes her tongue
  • "wiggles"
  • loves looking at books
